Feeling Good about the Dallas Cowboys

It is a good feeling. Let me ramble a little bit here!

It seems that for the first time in a decade it seems the chips are falling in the right places for the Cowboys to make a serious run at the big game. It has been along time since we were in this good of a position, this late in the season. I’m not talking about making the playoffs, I’m talking about playing the playoffs in Dallas.

Romo is managing the game well, we are relatively healthy and our defense is actually deserving of their top rankings. With all that, the main thing that has me excited is that for the first time in over a decade is the fact that the entire rest of the NFC east is experiencing the problems that has kept us from being competative.

Our defense is good enough to take us to the big game. There is not an offense that scares me although there are a couple of games left that have additional storylines and/or motivations that often hurt us.

Giants: Either they finish their implosion and are not competative or they play angry and with pride on the line and something to prove after this loss today.

Saints: They are hard to figure out, and Payton will spend a few extra hours preparing for his old team/coach.

I really believe we can win the last three if we stay injury free and keep playing well.

Observations / Random Thoughts:

Keith Davis was actually very important after all. Our Record could be flawless if he would have started since game 1.

Vanderjact needs to make a clutch kick before playoff time. His leg is there, his mind is just pushing his kicks. Maybe they should make him memorize playboys and recite them as he kicks.

Terrance Newman should buy a condo in Hawaii for his annual trips. D Ware should split the cost with Newman.

Terrance Newman will be injured returning punts. We have 29 great young recievers on special teams, but Parcells risks our season every time the other team punts. The downside heavily outweighs the upside of this.

Greg Ellis is great football player who didn’t fit this system for whatever reason. To Parcells credit, he tried to make it work by moving him to LB. It was a weakness that was getting exploited.

Marion Barber will be a starter in the NFL this year or next.

Parcells needs a late round playoff game to keep his job. He uses his personality to hide his shortcomings. The “dont question me” attitude works with reporters and bloggers. It isn’t working with Jerry.

Terry Glen is the best reciever in the NFC east.

Now, I have to stay grounded.

I realize that we beat the Colts because our defense played well at home. We beat the Panthers on the road withan excellent defensive performance on a night that Carolina wishes they had back. Those were both good wins.

I’m reminded that the three out of the last four games were against teams that are in last place in their division with a combined 5 wins when we played them. We went 2-1 in those games. In addition, the Giants ate Romo’s lunch in the first game and we have never played well against the Saints.

If this really isn’t something special going on, then the next two weeks will hold true to form and we could be back to the spot where we will be hoping to get a wildcard game on the road. If not, we are in the drivers seat for the first time in at least a decade!

Bottom line: It feels like something special, the next two weeks are as imporant as any two weeks we have played in a decade.

The Defense has been coming up huge of late but the offense has looked just as good. We are the only team in the top 10 in each category.

I’m surprised how well the O-line has played the last month or so. The only weakness I see now is we still give up huge chunks of yards passing over the middle from time to time.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Roy Williams, Terrence Newman, Tony Romo, DeMarcus Ware and Matt McBriar made the Probowl this year if they keep up their stellar play.

There are a few QB’s in the NFC that will get the pro bowl vote.

Depending on the next few weeks, but I would consider Brees for MVP.

Wether he deserves it or not, Eli will get enough votes to be in the top 2.

N.Y fans are so mad at Eli I would be surprised even shocked if he gets enough votes considering his poor play this year.

I think it will be Brees, Romo and of course the shoe in Farv.

The league is in as much love with Romo as bandwaggon cowboy fans are. I doubt he gets the nod. Maybe next year if he wins in the playoffs, but I wouldn’t think this year.

I hate to say it, especially today, but I think Brees is the MPV. Lets hope that changes tonight.
